FC Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Match at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend

Barcelona have announced they will play at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome the Basque side in the Spanish league two and a half years since relocating for construction to commence.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside based on approved permits. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold over 104,000 attendees, a rise from the old capacity. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.

Preparatory Events

Barcelona held an open training session inside the stadium earlier this month. They mentioned they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht in December in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
