Homages Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.

More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the pair.

Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director

Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt able to post publicly about his profound loss.

"Enough time has passed that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."

The actor posted archival material from the production, commenting that he cannot recall "any day without mirth".

"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes expressed.

He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."

Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade

In a distinct essay, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.

"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.

Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.

"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.

Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld

Recently, a Los Angeles court official agreed to prevent the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.

A court order issued a restriction on the investigation to limit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.

The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of homicide, with a public database noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".

Aftermath and Reactions

After the killings, public figures expressed varying reactions.

Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering divisive statements that were widely condemned by many commentators.

Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the detractors last week. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan labeled the statements as "shocking" and suggested they showed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.

Rogan ended by proposing that an aide could have stepped in when the decision to weigh in on the death was made.
